Introducing AmbientOSAmbientOS

Read the story: We are not files-based creatures

Scroll

Filing was made for paper.

Computers were the first medium without paper’s limits. Then we built them a filing cabinet.

Paper filing was always a compromise.

A drawer holds one copy, in one place, under one label. It was the best paper could do.

Then computers copied the cabinet.

Folders, file names and tags. The limits went away and the filing system stayed.

Your mind never worked that way.

Labels split information from its context. AmbientOSAmbientOS keeps them together as events: what happened, who did it and why.

There is so much data in the world. We use so much data. We create so much data. Sifting through them as files is hard because there’s a gap between the information and how it renders. We only really care about the information, and how we can mutate it. That’s why events based OS.

Mo Hoosen, founder, Slate HQSlate HQ

The filing cabinet broke four things.

Privacy, persistence, provenance and portability. AmbientOSAmbientOS fixes each one.

Privacy

All or nothing, with copies everywhere.

Share events, not containers, on your device first.

Persistence

Snapshots, not history.

Every change is an event. Nothing is overwritten.

Provenance

Containers hide meaning and origin, and agents act with no record.

Every event records who acted, on whose authority, with evidence.

Portability

Locked to the format’s maker.

One format any model can read, across apps and devices.

AmbientOSAmbientOSTwo files. .slate holds your information. memory.ambience holds its context. You and your AI work between them.

.slate holds your information.

Any file comes in as a .slate: the event stream, captured when you need it, with its history and provenance.

memory.ambience holds its context.

The runtime file where decisions, procedures and preferences live, and where AMBIAMBI works.

You and your AI work between them.

People and agents act on the same events and the same context, and every action is recorded.

AMBIAMBIOne agent, any model, always on.

Text it on WhatsApp or Telegram, or connect it to the AI you already use. It carries your memory between models and asks before anything you can’t undo.

Link it once.

Send AMBIAMBI your one-time link and it knows it’s you.

Ask what it can do.

It answers from the tools it actually has: your memory, your computer, the web, people, posts and time.

One agent, working from a memory you own.

Anything outward-facing waits for your yes.

Everyday work, by text.

Tell it to start a timer on the pitch deck. Later it pulls the week’s timesheet.

The same agent on Telegram.

Link once and text it there too. Same memory, same rules.

Private by default.

Only a linked AMBIAMBI account can use it.

On your computer, next to your work.

Local first by design. Any model. Slate HQSlate HQ never sees your data.

Or bring AMBIAMBI to your AI.

Copy the address and add it as a custom connection in your AI tool. Each tool sees only what you allow.

Everyone’s a builder, they just don’t know it yet.

The things you already keep track of are systems. AmbientOSAmbientOS gives you the tools to build them.

A recipe is an ordered log of ingredients.

Log what you cook, in order, and the recipe writes itself.

A meal plan is a prospective log of recipes.

Put recipes on the days ahead. A plan is just the events you haven’t logged yet.

A training routine is just a meal plan but with exercises.

The same structure with different events: sets and sessions instead of plates.

One sign-in. One memory. Every experience.

AMBIAMBI works across experiences built on AmbientOSAmbientOS, each made for one part of your life or work.
